This is a rare crab from a very unusual location. It is Acrocancer terribra from the Miocene of Italy. This site is known for the fossil Trumpetfish and Pipefish found there, but crabs are extremely uncommon. This specimen is complete with all eight legs and both claws intact (RARE!). The crab has nice detail preserved, especially on the large claws. The fossil crustacean has great natural color and displays impressively in the center of the semi-rectangular plate of shale. This is a great example of this very hard-to-find crab from Italy.
