This is an unusual vertebrate fossil. It is an adolescent Cave Bear jaw from the Ural Mountains of Russia. This jaw is unusual in the fact that the wisdom tooth is not fully erupted (see close-up photo #2). The large canine and other teeth are beautifully preserved. The teeth are firmly embedded in the solid jawbone. This is a great Ice Age fossil from a young Cave Bear.
