Here is a very displayable ammonite. This is Surriceras sp. from the Cretaceous of Morocco. This type of ammonite has very coarse ribs that terminate in large nodes near the wide keel. This cephalopod is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The ribbing pattern and the nodes are quite evident. This ammonite has been removed from the surrounding matrix so that it can be viewed from all angles. Both sides of the ammonite are extremely ''clean'' - the extreme inner whorls are easily seen on both sides. Remarkably, the ornate suture pattern, chamber apature, and siphuncle opening of the ammonite are beautifully displayed. This is a fabulous specimen of this rare Cretaceous ammonite from Africa.
