Here is an unusual ammonite from Russia. This is Neocraspedites discofalcatus from the Jurassic. This cephalopod is inflated and displays very nice detail. The rounded keel and the ribbing pattern of the ammonite are easily seen. The inner whorls are quite visible. The beautiful nacreous shell is well preserved. The fossil has good color and contrast. It is nicely positioned on the natural block of hard, dense shale. This is a very pretty specimen of an unusual ammonite from Russia.
