Here is a very displayable multiple plate of fossil shrimp. These are Carpopenaeus callirostris from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. Due to political unrest, specimens from this location are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. There are three shrimp wonderfully displayed on this plate of sublithographic limestone. It is quite unusual to find this many shrimp preserved this closely together. The shrimp exhibit very fine detail - the segmented carapaces, legs, and long antennae are all easily seen. The fossils are nicely positioned on the rectangular plate of limestone. This is simply a beautiful slab of fossil shrimp from the Cretaceous.
