This is a very nice brittlestar fossil. It is a Furcaster palaeoziocus from the famous Bundenbach slate quarries. Since the quarries have closed, the only way to acquire specimens is from old collections. This specimen IS from an old German collection. The brittlestar is complete with all five arms intact. It is very well-preserved on a large slate roofing shingle. The 'star has extremely fine detail and was fossilized in a very appealing pose. The color and contrast is striking, due to the fact that it is replaced with pyrite. This is a very displayable brittlestar fossil from the classic Bundenbach locality.
