This is a spectacular plate of ammonites from the Lower Cretaceous of Russia. There are two beautiful ammonites displayed on the natural concretionary plate. These fossil cephalopods are very 3-dimensional and exhibit wonderful detail. The ribbing pattern of the mollusk is quite evident. This type has strong ribs that bifurcate near the rounded keel. The extreme inner whorls are wonderfully displayed. The fossils have great nacreous shell and contrast nicely with the grayish matrix. This specimen could easily be the centerpiece of any ammonite collection. It is a fantastic display specimen of Cretaceous ammonites from Russia.
