Here is a nice set of brachiopods from Ohio. These are Rafinesquina nasuta from the Ordovician layers that also produce Flexicalymene trilobites. These large brachiopods are inflated and exhibit fine detail. The fine plications of the shells are easily seen. The brown-colored brachiopods contrast beautifully with the bluish-grey matrix. The brachs are wonderfully displayed on the natural plate of shale. This is a great multiple example of Rafinesquina brachiopod fossils from Ohio.
