This is an extremely eye-catching fossil. It is a large Cosmoceras proniae from the Jurassic of Russia. This ammonite has been cut in half, and both halves have been highly polished for optimal display. The internal structure of this gorgeous ammonite is very well defined - almost all of the individual chambers are hollow and filled with beautiful pyrite crystals. The wonderful detail of the cephalopod and the striking coloration of the mineral replacement makes this a very exciting specimen. This is a very displayable ammonite for the fossil collector or just for a unique conversation piece.
