This is an excellent grouping of three fossil starfish from the Eocene of California. Starfish are relatively uncommon in the fossil record, due to the delicate nature of their bodies. Starfish are occasionally found at this site, but good ones are extremely rare. The echinoderms exhibit their long, sinuous arms beautifully. All of the starfish shows fine detail - the plate structures are easily seen. The fossils have outstanding natural color and contrast and are wonderfully displayed on the triangualr plate of matrix. This is a very displayable multiple specimen of a fossil starfish from an unusual location.
