This is a plate of four Devonian brachiopods positioned on a plate of matrix. They are Mucrospirifer sp. from the famous quarry at Sylvania, Ohio. The "winged" brachiopods are very 3-dimensional and exhibit nice detail. These "lampshells" are very ornamented and display the fine growth lines very well. Both valves of each brachiopod are intact. This is an interesting presentation of Mucrospirifer brachiopods from the Silica Shale.
