Here is a rare and extremely unusual arthropod. This is a fine specimen of an unknown, arrowhead-shaped phyllocarid. Phyllocarids are among the lesser known crustaceans. They are distinguished by a rather large carapace, hinged at the top, which sheltered the anterior part of the body. This specimen displays the carapace very nicely. The arthropod has nice, natural color and contrasts well with the matrix. There are also at least three complete Agnostid trilobites on the plate. This is a very fine example of this strange arthropod from the Middle Cambrian trilobite beds of Utah.
