Here is a wonderful multiple plate of fossil shrimp. These are Carpopenaeus callirostris from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. Due to political unrest, specimens from this location are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. There are three fine shrimp beautifully preserved on this plate of sublithographic limestone - it is quite unusual to find this many complete shrimp fossilized this closely together. The shrimp have been darkened for contrast and exhibit fine detail. The segmented carapaces, legs, and long antennae are easily seen. The fossils are wonderfully showcased on the large, rectangular plate of limestone. This is a beautiful display slab of fossil shrimp from the Middle East.
