Here is a very large echinoid from Sardinia. This is Clypeaster tavani from the Miocene. This sea urchin has been removed from the matrix so that it can be viewed from all angles. This echinoid is very 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The petaloid ambulacra are very well defined. The mouth and anal opening are easily seen. This is an extremely displayable echinoid from Europe.
