Here is a rare find of fossil starfish from the Ordovician of Swatara Gap, Pennsylvania. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 1988. There are three examples of Salteraster sp. on the plate. Salteraster starfish are extremely uncommon at Swatara Gap, and a multiple plate of this quality is almost unheard of. All three starfish have five arms intact, which is also extremely rare. The stars are nicely presented on the large plate of matrix that also contains brachiopods, a crinoid crown, and a Cryptolithus cephalon. The wonderful orange color is also fully natural. This is a very collectible multiple specimen of Salteraster starfish from the famous site at Swatara Gap.
