Here is an extremely rare fossil. This is a fossil tadpole from the Eocene of Utah. We have seen very, very few fossil tadpoles from any site, let alone the Green River Formation. This immature frog has good color and contrast. The head, body, and long tail are wonderfully displayed. It is well centered on the large, natural plate of shale. There are also many fossil mosquitoes on the plate. This is a once-in-a-lifetime find from the Green River Shale.
