Here is an excellent Calycoceras wintoni from the Lower Cretaceous of Texas. This type of ammonite has coarse ribs and a very wide keel with distinct nodes positioned near the keel. This large, 3-dimensional ammonite has great detail, and the inner whorls are beautifully displayed. The cephalopod has wonderful, creamish coloration and is nicely positioned on the natural block of concretionary matrix that contains MANY fossilized oysters. This is a very displayable example of this large, wide-bodied ammonite from Texas.
