Here is an amazing plate of brachiopods. These are Lepidocyclus capax from the Ordovician of Indiana. There are fifteen extremely inflated brachiopods on the plate. All of the brachs have both valves intact and exhibit fine detail. The coarse plications of the shells are wonderfully displayed, and even the fine growth lines can be seen. The brown fossils contrast nicely with the grey matrix. The brachs are well presented on the plate of shale that also contains a few bryozoa. This is a very prolific multiple slab of Lepidocyclus brachiopods from the Ordovician.
