This is a very large and impressive chambered ammonite from the Jurassic of Russia. This is a wonderful example of a Cosmoceras proniae with hollow chambers. This type of ammonite has many ribs and a sharp keel. The beautiful ammonite has been cut open to reveal the amazing inner chambers. The hollow chambers are lined with bright pyrite crystals - the golden coloration is just spectacular! The fossil cephalopod is perfectly showcased on the sculpted block of concretionary matrix. This is a spectacular display specimen of a beautiful chambered ammonite from Russia.
