Here is a rare mammoth fossil. It is an amazing set of two associated teeth of Mammuthus primigenius from the Pleistocene of Russia. This specimen was found in the same area that was featured in the Discovery Channel special, "Raising the Mammoth". These teeth were recently acquired from a major fossil collection. The teeth are extremely unusual in that they came from the same animal! They are mirror images of each other - they look almost exactly the sameas each other! The teeth are well preserved, but jawbone is missing, rotted away. The teeth are very 3-dimensional and exhibit great detail. The grinding surfaces of the colorful teeth are wonderfully preserved and beautifully displayed. Both teeth have the long roots present - small parts of the jawbone are still connected to the roots. This is a very collectible and displayable set of Mammoth teeth recovered from the same animal.
