This is a fabulous fossilized mammoth tusk. It is a tusk from the Woolly Mammoth, Mammuthus primigenius. This specimen was recently acquired from a major fossil collection. The tusk is from the same area that was featured in the Discovery Channel special, "Raising the Mammoth". This tusk is from an adult, meaning the mammoth was probably fully grown when it died. The tusk has complete, pointed tip, which is quite unusual. The striking color of the fossil ivory is fully natural and simply beautiful. The tusk is solid, not hollow, meaning the value of the fossil ivory in the tusk is tremendous. And the tusk comes with its own custom-made wood display stand. This is an impressive Woolly Mammoth tusk that displays beautifully.
