Here is an interesting cephalopod from the Permian of Timor. There are not many locations in the world where nice Permian cephalopods are found. Due to political unrest, it is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain material from this area. This cephalopod has been removed from the surrounding rock so that it can be viewed from all angles. The specimen has been polished for optimal display of the goniatitic sutures. The inner whorls of this "wide-bodied" cephalopod are well defined. This is a very colorful specimen of an unusual Permian cephalopod.
