Here is a rare cephalopod fossil. This is a fine Michelinoceras sp. (?) from Argentina. This straight cephalopod is 3-dimensionally preserved and exhibits fine detail. The straight-line sutures are clearly defined. The specimen has nice natural color and is nicely showcased on the large block of matrix that has numerous graptolites preserved on the back side! This is a very unusual specimen of an Ordovician cephalopod from Argentina.
Note: Argentina has now banned the export of all fossils. We will strictly abide by and enforce this law - we will not acquire new fossils from Argentina. However, this fossil was collected and exported prior to this law, and can be sold legally.
