Here is a beautiful fossil ammonite. This is Psiloceras planorbis from the Jurassic of England. The ammonite displays gorgeous coloration, as the iridescent mother-of-pearl shell is still preserved. The fossil is mostly bluish-purple with highlights of green, yellow, and red - the colors are MUCH more intense than the picture shows. The very inner coils of the ammonite are intact and easily seen. And there is even a fossil bivalve preserved on the plate. This is a very colorful ammonite from the famous Lias Beds of England.
