This is a beautiful example of Pleuroceras spinatus from the Jurassic of Germany. The ammonite is preserved in a natural concretion, and both halves of the concretion are intact. This particular ammonite is replaced by iron pyrite, which makes for a striking display. The ammonite contrasts nicely with the gray matrix, and it exhibits great detail all the way down to the inner whorls. And the suture pattern is even preserved. This is a wonderful display specimen of this Jurassic ammonite in a concretion.
