Very Nice Aequipecten With Growth Lines

Here is a very nice specimen of Aequipecten sp. from the Pliocene of Florida. This large mollusk has both valves present and tightly articulated. Both sides of the specimen are free of matrix and very clean in appearance. The only matrix that is present is filling in the space between the valves. The large bivalve displays nice ornamentation. The coarse radial corrugations are easily seen. The fine growth lines are quite visible. This is an excellent specimen of a large fossil bivalve from Florida.
