This is an extremely rare fossil association. It is a large Anisophlebia helle dragonfly and unusual ammonite from the Solnhofen Limestone of Germany. Dragonflies are probably the most prized invertebrate fossils from this site, and this one is no exception. The specimen is complete and displays beautifully. All four wings are wonderfully showcased, with the extremely fine venation easily seen. The head and body of the dragonfly are both well preserved, and some mandibles are even present (rare). There is even a distinct ammonite fossil on the plate. This is one of the most unusual fossil associations we have ever seen - how many dragonfly-ammonite plates have you ever seen? I thought so!
