This is a very displayable ammonite from Russia. It is a colorful Cosmoceras spinatus from the Jurassic. This type of ammonite has very pronounced ribbing and many LARGE nodes on the keel. This specimen is preserved in a very 3-dimensional manner and exhibits fine detail. The ribbing pattern is easily seen, and the inner coils are clearly defined. The nacreous shell of the cephalopod is intact, and the gorgeous iridescent coloration is just spectacular. The color is even more stunning than what the picture shows. The ammonite is wonderfully perched atop a concretionary block of matrix with golden rainbow pyrite preserved. This is a beautiful example of Cosmoceras spinatus from Russia.
