This is a very unusual plate of brachiopods. These are Cyrtins sp. from the famous Silica Shale of Milan, Michigan. There are four examples of this distinct brachiopod on the plate. This type of brachiopod has very short lateral ''wings'', which are beautifully displayed on these specimens. All of the brachiopods have both valves intact and are nicely articulated. The fine detail of the fossil ''lamp shells'' is quite remarkable. The radial ornamentation is clearly defined, and even the fine growth lines are easily seen. The fossils have very good color and contrast and are nicely composited on the plate of shale. This is an attractive plate of distinct Spiriferid brachiopods from Michigan.
