Here is a very nice example of an unusual paracrinoid. This is Oklahomacystis tribrachiatus from the Ordovician of Oklahoma. The paracrinoid is still embedded in its surrounding matrix, which is quite unusual - most of this type is found loose and free of matrix. This primitive echinoderm is very 3-dimensional and exhibits great detail - the extremely ornamented plates are very nicely articulated. This is a great example of this bizarre Ordovician echinoderm.
