This is a spectacular fossil. It is a very large Cleoniceras cleon from the Cretaceous of Madagascar. This ammonite has been cut in half and both halves have been highly polished. The coiling pattern of the cephalopod is easily seen, and the individual chambers of the ammonite are beautifully showcased. Even the exterior of the ammonite has been polished, and the intricate suture pattern is clearly defined. The large size of the specimen combined with the exquisite colors of the ammonite make for a gorgeous display. This would be a stunning centerpiece in a fossil collection or in one's home or office.
