This is a fantastic US ammonite. It is a very large Jeletzkytes nebrascensis from South Dakota. This specimen is extremely 3-dimensional and complete all the way to the aperture. The cephalopod exhibits amazingly fine detail, and the whitish, nacreous shell of the ammonite is intact and beautifully preserved. The ammonite sits in the center of large, spherical concretion. It would be hard to imagine a 5+ inch Jeletzkytes that displays better than this specimen. It is a very complete and collectible ammonite fossil.
