Here is a very striking example of fossil gastropods. This is Turritella sp. and an unidentified gastropod from the Miocene of France. There are two wonderful gastropods perched on the block of matrix. The fossils are extremely 3-dimensional and exhibit excellent detail. The fine ornamentation of the gastropods is clearly defined. The off-white color of the fossils contrasts nicely with the sand-colored matrix. The block of matrix has a flat base and the matrix has been removed from the upper portions of the fossil snails so that they are beautifully displayed from all angles. This is a very aesthetic gastropod specimen from France.
