This is a beautiful multiple plate of Pentremites sp. from the Mississippian of Illinois. There are 10 specimens of at least two different species of Pentremites on this plate. One type has a very short pelvis, while the other kind has an elongated pelvis. The blastoids exhibit excellent detail - the plate structure is well defined, and the ambulacra are wonderfully preserved. There are also two large brachiopods on the plate - the growth pattern of the brachiopods is nicely displayed. The fossils are extremely 3-dimensional and have great color and contrast. The invertebrates are nicely positioned on the natural plate of matrix. This is a very interesting assemblage of fossils from the Ridenhower Formation.
