Here is a striking ammonite fossil. This is a very large Cleoniceras cleon from the Cretaceous of Madagascar. This ammonite has been cut in half and both halves have been highly polished. The individual chambers of this multi-colored ammonite are very well defined - many of the individual chambers are hollow and filled with sharply-pointed crystals. The large size of the cephalopod and the wonderful coloration of the mineral replacement makes for an exciting specimen. This is a very displayable ammonite for the fossil collector or an interesting objet d'art for the decorator.
