This is a large specimen of Perisphinctes sp. from the Jurassic of Madagascar. This very inflated ammonite is quite large for this type and has been removed from the surrounding matrix so that it can be viewed from all sides. This cephalopod has a very rounded keel and coarse, bifurcating ribbing. The inner whorls of the ammonite are extremely well displayed. The fossil has a natural white coloration, which is quite striking. This is a very large, distinct specimen of Perisphinctes from Madagascar.
