This is a very displayable chambered ammonite fossil from the Jurassic of Russia. This is a wonderful example of a split-open Cosmoceras proniae. This type of ammonite has many ribs and a sharp keel. The smaller ammonite has been cut open to reveal the amazing inner chambers. The hollow chambers are lined with bright pyrite crystals - the golden coloration is just spectacular! The unique detail of the chambers is simply amazing. The fossil cephalopods are aesthetically perched on a block of pyrite-encrusted limestone. This is a stunning display specimen of both whole and open chambered ammonites from Russia.
