This is a wonderful multiple plate of primitive echinoderms from the Middle Cambrian. These are Gogia spiralis from the Wheeler Shale of Utah. These unusual echinoderms used to be classified as eocrinoids, but are now thought to be cystoids. There are TEN excellent examples on this slab. These specimens exhibit incredible detail. The elongate, multi-plated, sac-like holdfasts are intact and very distinct. The large-plated, nodose calices are quite evident, and the twisted, spiraled arms are beautifully displayed in open, splayed positions. The fossils have great color and contrast and are well showcased on the large plate of shale. This is a very displayable multiple plate of these primitive echinoderms.
