This is a plate of unusual Mississippian coral. These are Cladochonus beecheri from Crawfordsville, Indiana. This locality is better known for the crinoid fossils found there. There is a large, 3-D coral colony preserved on the plate. The branching structure is quite distinct, very detailed, and easily seen. The is a very detailed fossil coral from the classic Crawfordsville site.
