Here is a fabulous ammonite specimen from the Jurassic of Russia. There are two ammonites beautifully displayed on this plate. They are both excellent examples of Cosmoceras proniae - this type of ammonite has fine ribbing and a sharp keel. Both ammonites are very 3-dimensional and exhibit great detail. The inner whorls of the ammonites are clearly defined, and the nacreous shell is exquisitely preserved. The completely natural, iridescent coloration of the fossils is very well preserved. The ammonites are well showcased on the large block of concretionary matrix. And the larger ammonite has an oyster tightly attached, which is quite unusual. This is a strikingly beautiful specimen of two Cosmoceras ammonites from Russia.
