Here is a very nice example of a rare paracrinoid. This is Platycystites levatus from the Ordovician of Oklahoma. This primitive echinoderm is very 3-dimensional and exhibits great detail - the extremely ornamented plates are very well articulated. The paracrinoid is nicely composited on its large matrix base. This is a great example of this bizarre Ordovician echinoderm.
