Here is fabulous example of a very rare echinoid from Gilmore City, Iowa. This classic location has been closed to collecting for a number of years, ever since some drunken fool drove his car over the wall of the quarry. However, we have acquired a lot of fossils from a local collector who had them stashed away for decades. The plate has a rare Archaeocidaris aliquantula echinoid preserved. The large urchin is beautifully showcased with spines intact and displayed in textbook fashion. The fossil has great color and contrast and is naturally positioned on the semi-rectangular matrix plate. This is a beautiful echinoid from a classic locality that is now closed to collecting.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
