This is a plate of unusual Mississippian coral. These are Cladochonus beecheri from Crawfordsville, Indiana. This locality is better known for the crinoid fossils found there. There is a very nice coral colony preserved on this plate. The branching structure is quite distinct and easily seen. There is also a small crinoid piece preserved on the coral. This is a very detailed coral colony from the classic Crawfordsville site.
