Here is an interesting fossil of a gastropod from the Miocene of France. This is an example of Turritella sp., a high-spired gastropod. This large gastropod is quite 3-dimensional and exhibits wonderful detail. The fine ornamentation of the fossil is clearly defined. The snail has great color and contrast and is well positioned on the block of sandstone matrix. This is a very displayable specimen of a classic Miocene gastropod from France.
