This is an extremely attractive fossil sea urchin. It is a Scuttella sp. from the Miocene of France. The echinoid is somewhat flattened like a sand dollar and exhibits nice form. The wide, petaloid ambulacra on the top of the urchin are clearly defined and easily seen. The whitish color of the urchin contrasts wonderfully with the tan-colored matrix. The fossil displays beautifully on the natural block of sandstone. This is a very pretty specimen of this type of fossil sand dollar from France.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
