This is a very uncommon brachiopod from an unusual location. This is Linoproductus sp. from the Pennsylvanian of Illinois. The fossil is extremely 3-dimensional and has excellent natural color. The large brachiopod exhibits extremely fine detail - the ribbing and ornamentation of the fossil lamp shell is easily seen. This is a very hard-to-find brachiopod from the Pennsylvanian.
