This is a very rare echinoderm fossil. It is an excellent Camptostroma roddyi from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Camptostroma are one of the earliest known types of echinoderms - you may never see another Lower Cambrian echinoderm. These enigmatic, disc-shaped, Medusa-like animals had a distinct plate structure and an unusual red-brown coloration. This fossil has great detail and contrasts well with the lighter-colored matrix. The distinct plate structure is easily seen under magnification. This is a fabulous example of this classic Lower Cambrian echinoderm.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
