This is a very nice double specimen of Holocystites scutellatus. These cystoids are from the Silurian of Indiana. They are both extremely inflated and well preserved. These primitive echinoderms exhibit good plate structure - the highly pustulose plates are quite distinct. The cream-colored cystoids contrast nicely with the grey matrix. The fossils are very well showcased on the rounded plate of limestone. This is a very fine double specimen of Holocystites scutellatus from the Osgood Formation.
