This is a very striking fossil. It is a distinct Ianthinopsis Gastropod from the Pennsylvanian of Illinois. The fossil exhibits very fine detail - the spiraling shell is easily seen. The snail has great natural coloration - the unusual coloration of the fossil is quite impressive. This is a wonderful example of this unusual gastropod from an old collection.
