This is a very interesting plate of brachiopods. These are Pseudoatrypa devonica from the famous Penn-Dixie Quarry of New York. There are three excellent examples of Pseudoatrypa on the plate. This type of brachiopod has a rounded shape and fine ribbing. All of the brachiopods have both valves intact and are nicely articulated. The fine detail of the fossil ''lamp shells'' is quite remarkable. The radial ornamentation is clearly defined, and even the fine growth lines are easily seen. The fossils have very good color and contrast and are nicely composited on the plate of shale. This is an extremely attractive plate of distinct Devonian brachiopods from the Empire State.
